Sister Mary Agnese Forster - Please keep in your prayers the repose of the soul of Sister Mary Agnese Forster (1919-2014).  Sister Mary was principal here at Saint Lawrence School from 1976-1995.  Sister Mary was a member of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, West Hartford.  She was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 5, 1919.  She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of West Hartford and celebrated her Profession of Vows on August 23, 1947.  Sister Mary died at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford on November 2nd, having been in Religious Life for 72 years.  Sister taught in several elementary schools of the Archdiocese of Hartford and the Diocese of Bridgeport.  In addition to her duties as principal at Saint Lawrence School, she was also a principal at Our Lady of Sorrows in Hartford and St. Joseph School in New Britain.  Sister Mary was an extraordinary educator of the whole person and brought encouragement and joy to the students and staff, wherever she served.  She had a special gift for gathering people to uplift their spirits through song and poetry.  Sister Mary shared her enthusiasm and love of life with those around her.  She loved to share humorous stories of her many years in education, remembering every student and detail.  Sister Mary was an avid reader, making use of the library, well into her 90’s, even ordering a new book just a week before her sudden death.
